DATELINE PHILA, PA: FRANK W. WINNE OPERATES
DURING THREE CENTURIES WITH INTEGRITY
Frank W. Winne & Son , Inc. stands as the one and only independent player in the North America Baler Twine Market. The remaining interests are either controlled by the major cooperative, Israel or Brazilian concerns.
Winne started in Philadelphia in 1895. The Winne Family sold to a New York company circa 1902. Members of the Coath family bought Winne around 1915. Today, Winne remains a USA family owned company known throughout the world for its honesty and integrity. ("Winne always pays its bills.")
In 1937 members of Winne took a train trip to Mexico, which began a pattern of sourcing twine & ropes from around the world. In 1988 Winne bought Tubbs Cordage Company, which operates today in Tucson, Arizona (Stop In!) producing millions of pounds of synthetic ropes every year.
Throughout its entire history, Winne has protected the USA buyer from the forces of those who conspire to fix prices. In the 1980s a group gathered for a showdown with Winne in front of Sam Gibbons' House Ways & Means Committee. The group was unsuccessful in its attempt to block Winne from its right to free trade.
